"The Green Bean" Does International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend 2006

International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend is an event we had never tried before. It's an international event that also coincides with International Lighthouse Day. Not a contest, the idea is simply to activate an Amateur Radio station from a lighthouse or lightshop. K1UR and K1NR picked Marblehead Light, Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA 473.

The day was pleasant, warm with a slight overcast that kept the sun from being too much. Operations were fairly casual as band conditions were really not all that great. Altogether, 39 QSOs were made, including 11 other lighthouses. Most operations were on 40 meters, with QSOs also made on 20m, 17m, 15m and 2m.
